Deep Sea Exploration

My hubby and I found this great TED Talk over the weekend.  (dontcha just love TED?)

It’s by David Gallo: Life in the Deep Oceans (1998)

http://www.ted.com/talks/david_gallo_on_life_in_the_deep_oceans.html

They show creatures from the deep that are just inspiring.

From  a curious octipod, to bio-luminescent creatures that are not powered by the sun , to the vents on the floor with a stack community that has animals growing as much as 1/4″ a week. The growth can be toppled by one of the many earthquakes, but can be re-created above a site emitting sulphuric acid from the core of our Earth in about a year.

They have even found the simplest form of life in a bacteria.

The Ocean has bio-diversity & bio-density higher than the rainforests and is largely unknown to us.

David made a powerful statement that resonated with us: “Everything on this planet works in cycles and rhythms…..We need to work with it.”

HEAR! HEAR!

May you know the SPiCE in life!
